End Fittings : Standard end fittings are BSP cone or flat seat female union and BSP taper fixed males, available in zinc plated mild steel, or AISI316 stainless steel. Other types of end fittings are available which include, 90° and 45° elbow fittings, NPT threaded fittings, JIC fittings, Flanges, Din 11851, SMS style, quick release couplings, standpipes, weld on fittings plus many others.
ALTERNATIVE DESIGN OPTIONS
Double Braid Hose : Double braid hose is recommended for higher pressure use, or in applications where the hose may be heavily flexed and in danger of kinking. Specification for the double braid hose is given on the page, which contains the Specification Tables.
Anti Static PTFE Linings : When electrically resistive fluids like refrigerants, solvents or fuels are passed through natural PTFE hose at high flow rates, static charge build up may occur on the inner wall of the PTFE liner, which may eventually discharge to the nearest earth with explosive consequences. Anti static PTFE includes a small quality of a special carbon black, which ensures safe static charge dissipation, in accordance with BS2050.
- Type 1 - All of the liner is anti-static PTFE so the charge can dissipate through the wall to the braid and long the inside surface to the end fittings.
High Pressure Gas Hose : Aflex were the first to discover and develop 'HPG' (High Pressure Gas Hose) in the late 1970s. Normally, processed PTFE is not capable of use at gas pressures above 150 Bar, due to structural breakdown of the PTFE tube wall. Specially processed HPG hose, however, has been successfully used with gases at pressure up to 400 Bar.
Alternative Braid Options : Smoothbore PTFE can be supplied with other braids in place of (or on top of) the stainless steel wire braid. These include 316 stainless steel, Monel or non metallic braids like Kevlar, Nomex, Polyester or Glassfibre.
External Hose Covers : External covers from Hytrel, PVC, Polyolefin, Polyamide or Rubbers of various kinds can be applied on top of the braid for protection or ease of cleaning. These covers can be longitudinally printed with names, working pressures etc as required.
Electrically Trace Heated : Smoothbore hoses can be supplied electrically trace heated and insulated for temperatures up to 200°C for use with hot melt adhesives and other applications. Control boxes and system usable in Zone 1, Hazardous Areas can also be supplied.
